On 28 September 2021, the 5000genomi@VdA Project hosted the second day of “2021 Life Sciences Week Technology Forum”, a cycle of events organized by The European House – Ambrosetti, with the objective of creating a virtuous network amongst the structures working on healthcare research and technology.
The event, titled “Big data and High performance computing in genomics”, was held from 2 to 6 p.m. at the CMP3VdA research centre, part of the Area Espace Aosta, and it enabled the guests who were physically present to visit the labs at the CMP3VdA facility, meet researchers and take part in a conference (also accessible by online streaming) with national and international experts held at the Aosta location of Pépinières d'Entreprises, the startup incubator operated by the Autonomous Region of the Aosta Valley.
The conference opened with greetings from the Regional Councillors Luigi Bertschy and Roberto Barmasse, and speeches by Giorgio Metta, Scientific Director of IIT (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Italian Institute of Technology) and the project partners.

This summer, the 5000genomi@VdA Project is ON AIR!
Every Thursday, from 8 July to 12 August, from 2.30 p.m. to 3 p.m., we will be guests in the programme “Hashtag in estate” on Radio Proposta InBlu, hosted by Fabiola Megna.
Over the next six weeks, CMP3VdA researchers and delegates for the Project partners will describe curiosities and anecdotes from the world of genomic research, DNA and what it is like working day to day on big data! Here are the guests in the upcoming episodes…

18 June 2021 was an Open Day for the 5000genomi@VdA Project, during which the new laboratories of our CMP3VdA research centre welcomed delegates from Regional Institutions and journalists from the local press. The guests had the chance to visit the departments of Medical Genomics and Computational Genomics, and were able to meet all the representatives from project partners. The event included speeches by Regional Councillors Luigi Bertschy (Councillor for economic development, training and employment) and Roberto Barmasse (Councillor for Health and Social Policy), who were both present.
During the Open Day, the guests visited the 450 square metres of laboratories, and met some of the 40 people on the project’s staff, including the 18 FSE scholarship researchers. Special attention was dedicated to the state-of-the-art Illumina NovaSeq 6000 NGS genomic sequencer, the Hamilton Microstar Lab robot for sample preparation, and the various workstations essential for the creation of bioinformatic pipelines and the generation of AI and machine learning software.
